Inspo is a Mac app for collecting and finding visual inspiration. It is built so that your library is yours alone.

What Inspo collects

Nothing. Inspo has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting and no server of its own. We cannot see your library, your searches, your notes or anything else, because none of it is sent to us or to anyone.

Where your data lives

Your library is a folder on your Mac. Everything the app makes from it, thumbnails, tags, search indexes, captions, transcripts and colour palettes, is computed on your Mac and stored beside it. If you delete the app, your files remain yours, readable in the Finder.

Network connections Inspo makes

Inspo only touches the network to do things you ask for:

• Importing from the web. When you pull in a Pinterest board or save something with the Inspo Collector browser extension, the app downloads those files to your Mac. Nothing about you is sent beyond the requests needed to fetch what you asked for.
• The browser extension. Inspo Collector talks only to the Inspo app on your own computer (127.0.0.1). It stores a single pairing token in your browser and keeps no browsing data.
• Transfer to a nearby Mac. When you move your library to another Mac, it travels directly between the two machines over your local network, encrypted with TLS, protected by a passcode shown on the receiving screen. It never touches the internet.
• The caption model, only if you turn captions on. Inspo fetches the model once from Hugging Face, about a gigabyte. It is a plain file download: nothing about you, and nothing from your library, goes with the request. Captions are written on your Mac afterwards, offline.

Permissions Inspo asks for

• Screen Recording, only if you use capture (snap or record part of the screen). Captures are saved to your library on your Mac and go nowhere else.
• Local Network, only if you use transfer between your own Macs.
• Speech Recognition, only if you save a video. Inspo transcribes what is said in it so you can search for it later. The transcription happens on your Mac and the audio is not sent anywhere.

Children

Inspo does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the date above changes with it, and the current version is always at this address.
